The Official Reuse Partner of the RHS

For the past 10 years, Wayward Plants has been the Official Reuse Partner of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), rehoming plants, trees and landscape materials from RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.

What began as idiosyncratic adoption events for unwanted plants has grown into one of the UK’s most ambitious reuse initiatives. Through our partnership with the RHS, more than 100,000 plants and trees have been rehomed through a network of nearly 2,000 community groups and schools, made possible by hundreds of dedicated volunteers.

Each year, following shows including RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, Wayward Plants coordinates the collection and redistribution of surplus planting and materials that would otherwise go to waste, helping transform school gardens, housing estates, community orchards, nature play spaces and grassroots growing projects.

In 2026, Wayward Plants marks 10 years as Official Reuse Partner of the RHS, alongside 20 years since the first Wayward Plant Adoption Events, entering a new chapter with the launch of the Wayward Plants Reuse Centre at Cultivate Colindale.
